More states are imposing more serious fines and penalties for drunk driving 2010. Many have set up DWI Checkpoints to watch for drunk drivers, and when they are caught, they may be required to participate in drink driving rehabilitation, as well as pay high fines and fees. They will also lose their drink driving license.

If you have multiple drink driving offences on your driving record, you could actually lose your drink driving license for life – with no possibility of ever having the legal privilege to drive again. This can cause a great deal of hardship in other areas of your life, such as the ability to find and keep a job, since you must have transportation to and from work.

Drunk Driving 2010 programs that many states have planned include more checkpoints, as well as the implementation of more drunk driving rehabilitation programs. This is an effort to not only cut down on instances of drunk driving, but also to cut down on instances of repeated drink driving offences.

The states are making these implementation plans because the facts and statistics show them that these types of programs are working. Instances of DWI and DUI have dropped dramatically in states that already use these programs. The facts also show that a person who goes to jail or prison for drink driving is likely to repeat the offense, while a person who completes drink driving rehabilitation isn’t.

Of course Drunk Driving 2010 will also see some changes in the insurance industry. More states will require you to carry an SR-22 after drink driving conviction codes appear on your record, and those states that already require an SR-22 will likely extend the length of time that carrying the SR-22 will be required – resulting in more costly insurance for you, for a longer period of time.
